About
MommyGarten Editor Carly Jennings began her advocacy for new families and their young children 24 years ago, working as a legislative intern on Capitol Hill.
Since then, Carly has continued to serve communities as a military wife, an educator in Panama, and a bilingual Kindergarten teacher. She has worked with all kinds of families, including teen parents, solo parents, coupled parents, military wives, and families in crisis due to domestic violence. Since becoming a child development consultant in 1996, Carly has found that no matter the differences in background, all parents are eager improve their parenting skills, when given the information and opportunity.
At MommyGarten.com, we help moms (and dads) navigate the developmental domains of early childhood. By describing the behavior of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in exquisite detail, we help parents learn what to expect, when to expect it, and what to do about it.
Carly is the mother of an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, and picky eater who attends college on the East Coast; and a 16 year-old actress who practiced her craft on grandparents years before she was discovered by her agent.
When the Mommy Wars broke out, Carly declared herself General of the Baby Brigades. Having been a Stay-at-Home Mom, a full-time Work-Away-from-Home Mom, and a single mom with two kids, stray cats, a dog, plus a full time job, Carly applauds anybody who takes on the hard work of parenting, however they manage it. So let’s call a truce, and just remember what makes it all worthwhile: a coo de tot.
